Job Details:
Under the direction of the Pulmonary Health/Diagnostic Lab Manager and Medical Director the Pulmonary Diagnostic Technologist performs tests to assess pulmonary and metabolic function including Spirometry Plethysmography Nitrogen Washout Diffusion Capacity Methacholine Challenge Exercise Stress and Metabolic Testing Forced Oscillation Technique (FOT) Exhaled Nitric Oxide Resting Energy Expenditure (REE) Breath Hydrogen Analysis H-Pyloric Testing Blood Gas Collection and Analysis Pulse Oximetry End Tidal CO2 monitoring and High Altitude Simulation Testing (HAST) in addition self performs biological calibration to assure quality assurance of all diagnostic equipment. Supports inpatient and ambulatory speaking valve assessments CF bike exercise respiratory disease management and home equipment acquisition. Provides recommendations of therapy along with training patients/families on medically prescribed pediatric respiratory home care including Airway Clearance Medicated Aerosol Therapy Oxygen Therapy CPR Tracheostomy management Assisted Ventilation IPV and Cough assist. Supports pulmonary at off-site locations (intake testing and patient/family education) assist with medical complex patients in specialty clinics.
As a discharge planner he/she has the responsibility for patient/ family respiratory home care assessment and management resource management care facilitation and discharge planning of appropriate respiratory treatments including supplemental oxygen positive airway pressure devices nebulizers inhalers airway clearance devices mechanical ventilation and other necessary treatment devices. Collaborates with nursing discharge planners and the entire care team in discharges and continued follow up care in the ambulatory clinics. Serves as a resource and advocate for patient/ family community agencies provider networks and foundations such as for Cystic Fibrosis and Dayton addition the discharge planner represents Dayton Childrens in establishing and maintaining liaisons between Dayton Childrens and external customers.
