Job Summary
Performs legal analysis and legal research of issues of high complexity; gives legal advice; develops documentation and participates in decisions and negotiations associated therewith; and in each case to advance the mission of the Legal Services Department and the FMOL Health System. Primary attorney responsible for all legal matters in Jackson MS and Monroe LA markets. Some travel will be required to be present when necessary in each market. Works on the senior executive leadership team at each market.
Responsibilities
**Must reside in either Jackson MS or Monroe LA area(s).
Provides Legal Consultation
- Provides legal guidance to FMOLHS Sponsored Organization management on the legal ramifications of proposed Sponsored Organization strategy and aids in the resolution of Sponsored Organization legal issues in an effort to ensure that Sponsored Organizations comply with legal requirements and that the Sponsored Organizations rights are protected.
- Prepares reviews and approves legally binding documents for Sponsored Organizations.
- Establishes effective relationships with outside counsel in an effort to ensure that high quality legal services is furnished in a professional and prudent manner.
- Attends meetings and travels to Sponsored Organizations as necessary to provide consultation and recommendations.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Maintains current knowledge of federal state and local legislation and regulations that may affect Sponsored Organizations.
- Assists in the development coordination and monitoring of new Sponsored Organization programs in an effort to increase organizational performance.
- Strives to promote the quality and efficiency of his/her performance by remaining current with the latest trends in field of expertise through participation in job relevant seminars and workshops attendance at professional conferences and affiliations with national and state professional organizations.
- Primary attorney responsible for all matters in Jackson MS and Monroe LA
Qualifications
Experience:
- 7-10 years practicing law
Education:
- J.D.
