NDT Quality Test Spec (NDT Quality Test Specialist-General)

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Quality Specialist to join our BDS Fabrication Quality Organization in New Orleans LA!

This position requires candidate to hold current or recently current NDT certification in Radiography (RT).

Employees will be required to obtain a minimum of Level II certification in RT method. Failure to achieve or maintain the required certifications may lead to termination of employment.

The NDT Specialist will join and work in a dynamic team supportive team within a fabrication environment using automated and traditional systems evaluating collected data making accept/reject decisions. Ideal candidates will have the ability to interpret blueprint requirements and have the capability of supporting and/or developing inspection procedures. Successful candidates will have experience in NAS410 standard or equivalent be an effective communicator and be able to work across multiple diverse functions including partnering with operations and engineering teams.

The Nondestructive Test Technician Level II is responsible for performing and overseeing nondestructive testing (NDT) procedures in accordance with NAS410/BSS7698 standards. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and safety of aerospace components and systems. The technician will utilize various NDT methods including but not limited to ultrasonic eddy current radiographic magnetic particle and dye penetrant testing to detect defects and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Guides the development or improvement of non-destructive inspection or test techniques.
  • Develops deploys and implements tests or inspections and data collection techniques utilizing evolving technology.
  • Develops program specific non-destructive testing documents.
  • Develops and implements processes and procedures for new or revised non-destructive testing methods.
  • Audits validates and approves systems and techniques of suppliers and processors.
  • Develops certification training and examinations.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidates will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This is a NASA safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • NAS 410 NDT Level 2 Qualification or equivalent with a minimum of Computed / Digital Radiography / Film (RT) (Weld Quality)
  • Current Radiation Safety State Card or ASNT IRRSP
  • More than 5 years of experience working with Microsoft Office Products like Outlook PowerPoint Excel and Word
  • More than 5 years of experience in NDI (non-destructive inspection) or NDT (non-destructive test)
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings technical publications and/or specifications
  • More than 3 years of experience in manufacturing or manufacturing support environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Current or recently held (in the last 18 months) NAS410 Certified Level II or equivalent in one or more NDT methods Ultrasonic (UT) Eddy Current (ET) Penetrant Testing (PT) Magnetic Particle (MT)
  • More than 3 years of experience with aerospace Non-Destructive Testing
  • More than 1 year of experience with Orbital Tube Welds OTW)
  • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard

Travel:

This position may require up to 10% travel

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
