SUMMARY

The Radiologic Technologist must be dependable accountable and cooperative. Assists with providing safe age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams provided by the department according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to obtain a quality diagnostic study properly and safely. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of the equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

  • Delivers compassionate care to maintain a high standard of Radiography.
  • To ensure that the three principles of radiation protection namely justification optimization (ALARA) and dose constraints/limits are adhered to.
  • Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms provide verbal and/or written instructions and assist patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
  • Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specification of examination.
  • Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
  • To take part in routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to Imaging Services Director.
  • To take responsibility for the general cleanliness tidiness and safety of the Department with specific responsibility for their own work area.
  • To familiarize themselves with current infection control procedures.
  • Maintain adequate radiologic supplies.
  • Proficiency in PACS and EMR systems
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with employees elected and other government officials members of neighborhood organizations social and medical professionals and the general public.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an accredited School of radiologic Technology
  • 1 year of Radiology experience. (Preferred)
