To be eligible you must be in good academic standing pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering and be able to provide proof of Enrollment Documentation including your GPA.

What You Will Do:

Assist with inspection and inventory of new and existing highway lighting overhead signs sign supports and signalized intersections.
Use CADD software to create and update pavement marking drawings of ODOT maintained intersections.
Establish an understanding of Centracs Traffic Management Software by monitoring traffic signals while converting and updating signal timing sheet records.
Develop an understanding of ODOT work zone management standards and specifications while keeping inspection and maintenance records current.

Upon graduation interns are eligible to apply to be an ODOT employee through the Transportation Civil Engineering (TCE) Program. This program gives a new engineer the on-the-job experience continued education through training and seminars offered at ODOT and the ability to work with Professional Engineers leading towards the requirements necessary in obtaining their P.E. certification. Learn more about this program by visiting the TCE website at: is a temporary position involving various duties that will supplement the students major field of study &/or provide experience that is a useful addition to the students education & meaningful preparing for future professional employment.

Rate of pay is based upon the students academic status (determined by the college or university):

• Freshman and Sophomore Students - $19.50 per hour
• Junior and Senior - $20.00 per hour
• Graduate Students - $24.00 per hour

This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.

This position is unclassified per Section 124.11(A)(29).
