JOB SUMMARY
Collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory.
Fills in as needed in the department.
Functions as one of the departments primary contacts with patients.
Assists with clerical duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs phlebotomies.
Performs laboratory Information System functions.
Maintains a clean work area and proper stock on supplies.
Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients utilizing appropriate polices and procedures.
Performs clerical duties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 days
Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Formal phlebotomy training preferred.
Must be employed with RGH as a Phlebotomist for 1 year
Complete Dermal Puncture and Capillary Blood Collection course in Media Lab
No written or corrective action for performance or attendance/tardy for the past 6 months
