ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)
- Delivers compassionate care while utilizing radiation protection to the patent under the guidelines of ALARA.
- Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting technical factors to obtain the most optimal mammogram possible on each individual patient.
- Evaluates the technical factors of positioning compression exposure contrast sharpness noise artifacts collimation and labeling on every patient prior to dismissal.
- Actively participates in the quality control/quality analysis program under the supervision of the lead interpreting radiologist.
- Demonstrates an adequate knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint areas for mammography with emphasis on body placement and positioning.
- Maintains workflow efficiencies throughout the mammography departments to expedite flow of patients.
- Maintains and ensures 100% compliance with ACR FDA and MQSA standards and inspections.
- Assists staff in the interpretation of scripts/orders to ensure exams are completed within the framework of appropriate protocols and accepted policies.
- Ensures optimal patient care as well as establish effective working relationships with all colleagues.
- Assures that services provided are in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Works with Imaging Director to ensure equipment be maintained and repairs are attended to promptly.
- Works to ensure staff are compliant regarding mammography guidelines as well as policies and procedures.
- Performs Quality Control monitoring of equipment as assigned in accordance with ACR/MQSA.
- Leads by example of providing an excellent patient care experience.
- Collaborates with the Radiologists to ensure the highest level of operational efficiency and quality standards.
- Competency with PACS and EMR systems.
- Assists with performing and planning multiple diagnostic procedures in appropriate time sequence.
- Functions independently with little guidance from supervisor needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Successful completion of a two-year Radiology Technology program approved by the committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the AMA and the American Registry of Radiology Technologist.
- Minimum 1 year experience in Mammography.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both Radiology and Mammography RT(R)(M)
- Current CPR certification required
