DBMI enjoys collaborations with numerous centers and units on campus. For example the CU Anschutz Center for Combat Medicine and Battlefield (COMBAT) Research has been created to solve the U.S. militarys toughest medical challenges by leading high-impact research education and innovation turning military medical research gains into better health care for all. The Anschutz Campus is home to Colorados only NIH-supported Comprehensive Cancer Center (the University of Colorado Cancer Center) and Clinical and Translational Science Award hub (the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute CCTSI). The Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine houses the regions largest biobank which is one of the nations largest academic biobanks. Research into womens health and sex differences is a key theme in the department that enjoys strong connections with the Ludeman Family Center for Womens Health Research. The campus has invested significantly in an enterprise health data warehouse collecting electronic health record data from 15 hospitals and dozens of clinics for research. This warehouse integrates electronic health record data for millions of active patients more than 800 clinics and state and national public health databases for research.

The availability of health records for research through Health Data Compass large-scale biobanking and genomics through the Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine and close collaboration with the University of Colorado Cancer Center provide ideal positioning. This setting is complemented by translational support from the CCTSI enabling studies that move from protocol to implementation on clinically meaningful timelines and at scale. The strong connections between CU and UCHealth and Childrens Hospital Colorado provide ideal conditions to identify problems of clinical and operational importance develop solutions and translate them to practice. Faculty benefit from adult and pediatric clinical partnerships.
