Key Position Details:

Position will float East Metro and to Faribault

1.0 FTE (80-hours per two-week pay period)
8-hour day/evening shifts
Every 4th weekend
Position is eligible for mileage reimbursement based on company policy

Job Description:

The technician functions under the supervision of the pharmacist. Provides basic prescription filling inventory management customer service and basic compounding. May assists with other pharmacy projects and advanced dispensing. Provides backup for lead technicians and the pharmacy buyers.

Principle Responsibilities

Prescription Filling
- Order entry into pharmacy management software
- Fulfilment of reviewed orders
- Final dispense according to disposition
- Reduces audit risk through proper checks including but not limited to DAW days supply NDC validation dates of service discrete directions and other standard practices
- Prepares oral extemporaneous products
- Performs bulk compounding
Customer Service
- Provides service to internal and external customers
- Greets patients employees and staff in a timely and courteous manner
- Obtains needed information through direct patient contact to support prescription filling
- Advocates for patients by searching for manufacturer and foundation copay assistance
Technician will routinely complete the following responsibilities to manage and support drug distribution
- Inventory Management receipt and restock of wholesaler orders transfer of medications to internal pharmacies
- Medication picking in support of prescription filling
- Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment
- Restocks automated dispensing robots
- Assists with returns waste and reporting/resolution of discrepancies
Complete and document quality assurance activities
- Monitors expiration dating
- Performs cleaning
- Reports discrepancies or inaccuracies to pharmacist or supervisor
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
Prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician or
Prior healthcare experience

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
Vocational or Technical Training from an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program

Licenses/Certifications

Registered Pharmacy Technician - MN or WI Board of Pharmacy required if working in the state of MN or WI upon hire
Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required. NHA or PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board

Physical Demands

Light Work:
Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally up to 10 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $21.55 to $29.35 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to your experience education and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
