Job Summary

We are hiring a Registered Nurse Manager I for one of our clients in Edison NJ.

Job Description:

Applies knowledge of the principles of supervision management leadership and administrative functions. Contacts are made with patients staff nurses supervisory nurses physicians and other clinical program or management staff concerning management of a nursing program. Work impacts the quality and effectiveness of patient care. Impact on services is significant. Develops nursing unit objectives policies and standards. Develops standards for patient care delivery of services and training and development of staff. Leads supervises and manages RNs and medical support staff. May assign staff evaluate clinical and administrative issues evaluate performance of patient care by staff assist with budget preparation and management a and direct all nursing programs for a unit or program. Exercises judgment over issues of patient care performance of staff and utilization of resources.

  • Overseeing a team of nurses as they provide healthcare services to patients and manage their records.
  • Their duties include training scheduling and mentoring nursing staff managing a budget for their team and consulting on patient treatment plans.
  • Create goals and objectives for their department or facility and make sure they are met by the staff
  • Communicate with staff and department heads
  • Keep and organize records of the facility
  • Recruit and train nurses and other health professionals
  • Create work schedules for nurses
  • Ensure the facility they work in is compliant with current laws
  • Improve the quality and efficiency of the level of care delivered to patients
  • Solve any problems patients might have at the facility

Definition:

  • Under the direction of a supervisory official performs consultative and liaison tasks related to federal provider consumer nursing public relations long-term institutional home health community care medical and social day care matters; does other related duties as required.

Examples of work:

  • Evaluates data to evaluate and manage efficiency and productivity of field operations.
  • Participates in the development of quality management policies and conducts periodic quality management reviews.
  • Monitors compliance with federal state and professional guidelines rules and regulations.
  • Reviews and evaluates new or proposed legislation and regulations.
  • Disseminates information on new or revised programs.
  • Provides direction and consultation to staff on cases or issues involving the assessment and authorization of service process.
  • Provides technical assistance on methods to improve the delivery of long-term care services.
  • Chairs or participates as a member of task forces and workgroups involving long-term services.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports.
  • Prepares and/or revised procedures standards assessment forms and criteria for professional staff.
  • May participate in the development and implementation of orientation for new professional staff.
  • Disseminates information to professional staff regarding standards of practice.
  • Develops and maintains current policy and procedure manual
  • Provides consultation and assistance in the resolution of long-term care issues problems or complaints.
  • Conducts onsite facility monitoring in response to emergency situations such as fires closings curtailment of admissions or strikes.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships within Tra and interdepartmental and other government agencies and the provider community.
  • Establishes and maintains essential records and files.
  • Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency office or related units.

Requirements: EDUCATION:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree in Nursing or related health field and a Masters degree with a major course of study in Nursing Supervision Administration Public Health Medical Care Nursing Health Education or related health field.
  • NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required Bachelors degree but possess an Associates degree in Nursing or graduated from an accredited School of Nursing may substitute two (2) years of additional clinical nursing experience as indicated.
  • NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required Masters degree may substitute one (1) year of additional clinical nursing experience as indicated.

Experience:

  • Six (6) years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care long-term or community-based setting.

License:

  • Current registration as a Professional Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • Appointee will be required to possess a drivers license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle rather than employee mobility is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of laws of New Jersey and rules regulations policies and procedures applicable to the Long-Term Care Program after a period of training.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations governing nursing and allied programs in long-term care after a period of training.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement methods for long-term care facilities after a period of training.
  • Knowledge of current practices in long-term care service delivery.
  • Knowledge of the techniques used to monitor and evaluate compliance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments and agencies.
  • Ability to participate in the development of quality management procedures.

Work hours:

  • 11:00 PM 7:00 AM
  • Lunch hour (unpaid): 4:00 AM - 4:30 AM
