We are currently looking for aResearch Data Linkages and Data Provisioning Leadto join ourClinical Practice Research Datalink teamin the Safety and Surveillancegroup.

This is a full-time opportunity on a 24-month fixed term contract/internal move or temporary promotionbasis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade Canary Wharf London E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.

We are currently implementing a flexible hybrid way of working with a minimum of 4 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role this can flex up to 8 days a month with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly. Remote working is potentially available for some specific roles. Please discuss this with the recruiting manager before accepting an appointment.

The Safety and Surveillance Group brings together into a single integrated structure devices and medicines safety expertise with enforcement capabilities. These functions will be supported by our data and evidence generating capabilities complementing our signal generating capabilities produced via the new Safety Connect System.

Part of the Safety and Surveillance group The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) with support from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is the UKs preeminent research service providing access to anonymised NHS data for addition to supporting high quality observational research CPRD has developed world leading services based on using real world data to support clinical trials and interventional studies.

Whats the role

This roleoffers an exciting opportunity to help build on the CPRDs 30-years of providing data for drug safety and epidemiological studies resulting in over 3500 peer-reviewed publications investigating drug safety use of medicines effectiveness of health policy health care delivery and disease risk factors. Join us to help support delivery of our real-world research services that inform clinical guidance and best practice.

The CPRD Research Data Linkages and Data Provisioning Lead is not only responsible for managing the delivery of CPRDs observational research services around data linkage and data provisioning but they will also deputise for the Head of Observational Research at strategic internal and external meetings. Responsibilities involve managing a team of researchers; ensuring research projects and services are delivered to a high standard on time and to budget; monitoring and reporting performance against targets; leading client stakeholder and collaborator discussions; implementing a programme of value adding products; and overseeing strategic activities that contribute to the delivery of wider CPRD objectives. They will also contribute to CPRDs research data governance process conducting the review and moderation of study protocols and data output requests as addition they will lead a cross-team group to review and develop the policies procedures and processes to support CPRDs transition to a predominantly Trusted Research Environment (TRE) based data access model in line with the Five Safes framework and ensuring alignment with TRE accreditation. The post holder will prepare strategic papers on data linkage data provisioning data outputs and related policy/procedures for consideration by the CPRD Senior Management Team.

  • Enhance Observational Research Servicesand Lead Strategic Projects and Stakeholder Activities

  • Disseminate Research and Data Characterisation Outputs and People Management.

Who are we looking for

Oursuccessful candidatewill:

  • Have a PhD or equivalent experience in epidemiology medical statistics or a related discipline.

  • Ensure delivery of timely quality outcomes through providing the right resources to do the job reviewing and adjusting performance expectations and rewarding success

  • Make clear practical and manageable plans for service delivery ensuring adherence to legal regulatory and security requirements in service delivery and proactively managing risks and identifying solutions.Have a track record in leading epidemiological research analysing large electronic health records databases

  • Have advanced project management skills with experience of allocating team resources across multiple projects aligned with strategic priorities
