Position Description:
Sr. Biomedical Engineer Sensor R&D for Medtronic Inc located in Northridge CA. Responsible for technical research in biosensor design through competencies in medical device design sensing devices and data analysis. Leverage first principles in electrochemistry materials physics and biosignals fundamentals to develop next generation glucose and multianalyte sensors for Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) applications. Establish wafer fabrication and/or thin film coating and nanomaterial processing processes for new sensing materials. Characterize biosensor materials and configurations with physical surface analysis and electrochemical characterization techniques including FIB SEM Energy-Dispersive Xray Spectroscopy (EDS) ToF-SIMS Raman chronoamperometry cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Design biosensor electrode layouts using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Review and approve design process and Bill of Materials (BOM) changes through Engineering Change Orders(ECOs). Analyze signals from biosensor prototypes from both in vivo (human and animal) and in vitro studies using MATLAB JMP and Minitab software. Leverage Design of Experiments(DOE) root cause analysis (RCA) and analytical data methodologies to optimize sensor performance troubleshoot unexpected outcomes and establish mechanistic understanding of sensor behavior and in vivo performance. Perform Gage Reproducibility & Repeatability (Gage R&R) Installation Qualification (IQ) Operational Qualification (OQ) and Performance Qualification (PQ) for the validation and documentation of precision instruments for a cleanroom pilot manufacturing setting. Engage with external suppliers and vendors including contract manufacturers raw material suppliers and equipment vendors to ensure compliance with key performance indicators and quality metrics.
