Parent Ambassador
Part-Time Hourly
This position offers approximately 50 hours per month generally providing services between the hours of 3:00 and 6:00 PM Monday-Friday with morning hours as needed.
Reports to: Family and Community Engagement Coordinator
Summary Description: The Parent Ambassador is a part-time role that supports family and community engagement at Grow Public Schools. Reporting to the Community Schools Coordinators the Parent Ambassador serves as a liaison between families and the school staffing the Resource Lab assisting with the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and conducting outreach to increase parent participation. This role requires strong interpersonal skills bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish and building a strong connection to the Grow Academy Arvin parent community. Training and resources will be provided upon hire.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Staff the Resource Lab ensuring families receive support and resources.
- Support parents with homework assistance and college and career exploration
- Call and direct parents of students needing tutoring or additional academic resources.
- Conduct outreach to parents to increase engagement in school activities.
- Assist in the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) alignment by encouraging participation and gathering parent input.
- Recruit parents for the Community Schools Advisory Council Coffee & Conversations and other engagement events.
Advocate for the Grow vision and beliefs within the school and community. - Educate and encourage parents on the importance of student attendance.
- Attend the Community Schools Advisory Council to represent parent perspectives.
- Provide presentations within the Resource Lab based on expertise to support parents.
- Track and record parent and family attendance and engagement at community school events.
- Connect families with FACE Liaisons and other school resources.
- Build relationships with parents and community members to gauge current parent needs.
- Ensure confidentiality in all parent and student interactions.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to connect with parents staff and community members.
Fluency in both English and Spanish for effective communication and interpretation.
Organizational and time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with school staff social workers tutors administrators and families.
Proficiency in using basic technology including email text messaging and office equipment (computers printers).
Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability for goals and engagement metrics.
Understanding of Grow Public Schools mission values and programs (training provided).
Ability to track engagement and participation data for community school events.
Ability to set position-specific goals and report success to the Community Schools Coordinators.
Ability to increase participation in the Resource Lab through outreach efforts.
Ability to work in afternoon and evening shifts overlapping with after-school pickup times.
Ability to work in hot weather conditions in Arvin and Shafter when engaging with parents outdoors.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Strong familiarity with parent-school dynamics within rural areas.
- Reliable transportation to fulfill outreach and engagement responsibilities.
- On-site availability Monday - Friday between the hours of 3:00 - 6:00 PM.
