Your Role as an EHS Specialist
As EHS Specialist based in Tampa FL you will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) are maintained across one or more of our Projects. You will have accountability for assessing risk implementing standards coaching teams and ensuring compliance with all legal contractual and corporate EHS requirements to protect people protect the environment and uphold Alstoms reputation as a leader in sustainable mobility.
What Youll Do
Conduct EHS risk assessments for Projects and define measures to mitigate risks.
Develop implement and maintain emergency plans at the Project level.
Oversee subcontractor EHS activities especially where there are interfaces with other contractors or operational areas.
Exercise full authority to stop any operational activity that presents immediate high risk to people or the environment.
Coach guide and assess EHS teams assigned to Projects.
Engage with social & medical partners and communicate EHS matters.
Support the staffing of EHS functions during project execution; audit the implementation of EHS plans during project phases.
Ensure deployment of Alstom EHS standards and tools including AZDP (Alstom Zero Deviation Plan) TOPE (Transport Operational Performance in Environment) and other key processes.
Monitor compliance with statutory regulatory contractual and company requirements; identify gaps and propose corrective actions.
Maintain records and project documentation related to EHS.
Monitor historical pollution data and assess associated risks.
Build and maintain Projectlevel EHS communication plans.
Prepare and implement EHS training programs in coordination with HR.
Ensure all Accidents/Incidents are prevented when possible and when they occur properly reported investigated analyzed and communicated (including REX reports for severe cases).
Prepare monthly EHS reports; feed into Group reporting systems; ensure data quality for EHS metrics.
What Were Looking For
Education & Certifications
Mandatory: Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in EHS Health & Safety Environmental Management or a related field. OR 4 years of relevant experience may substitute.
Desirable: Health & Safety certification recognized by enforcing authorities (if required in country of operation).
Experience & Skills
Mandatory: Minimum 4 years experience in Environment Health & Safety or related fields. Prior EHS management experience particularly in project environments.
Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 standards.
Deep understanding of local regulatory & legal EHS requirements.
Desirable: Experience in the railway industry. Experience as an EHS auditor.
