The Team & Role
We are seeking a talented and curious engineer to join the Avionics team to design and lead harness development for the launch vehicle. This role will own the harness architecture and design process from first article assembly through production and testing supporting test and flight harnesses across rocket systems.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical thermal and electrical teams for end-to-end harness development including schematic design qualification testing and system integration. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment where your contributions will directly impact the companys mission and growth.
Responsibilities
- Act as the Harness Responsible Engineer on the launch vehicle program
- Define harness requirements materials and connector selection in partnership with Mechanical Thermal and Electrical engineers
- Design routing layouts and EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) details
- Draft and review manufacturing and assembly drawings
- Create and maintain product/system wiring diagrams and schematics
- Conduct testing such as pin-to-pin isolation grounding and continuity checks
- Troubleshoot development and production wiring issues and drive corrective actions
- Document and update procedures FMEAs test results requirements and work instructions
- Work hands-on in design production and testing environments
Compensation
- Base salary range: $135000 - $175000 depending on experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
- 5 years of professional experience in harness design
- 3 years of experience with mechanical design/CAD software and PLM tools
- Ability to interpret and create complex electrical wiring diagrams
- Strong knowledge of wire harness design and manufacturing processes
- Experience with aerospace material/component selection
- Hands-on testing and troubleshooting experience for wiring systems
- Familiarity with industry specifications such as IPC/WHMA-A-620 NASA-STD-8739.4/8739.6 NASA-STD-6016 SAE AS22759 or J-STD-001
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Self-motivated detail-oriented and excellent communication skills
Preferred / Desired Skills
- Background in aerospace applications
- Experience with redundancy strategies for flight-critical systems
- Designing for high-vibration and vacuum environments
- Proficiency with Siemens NX Teamcenter or RapidHarness
- Demonstrated ability to balance weight cost and manufacturability in hardware design
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving approach to root cause investigations
Other Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Person (citizen lawful permanent resident refugee or asylee) or able to obtain necessary trade licenses per ITAR/EAR regulations
- Ability to meet background checks and if applicable obtain clearance to work on government contracts
