Job Summary:
This Registered Nurse position in a Level I trauma centers Emergency Department requires a minimum of two years of experience and proficiency in various areas of emergency care including adult and pediatric patients. The role involves providing direct patient care administering medications and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team within a fast-paced environment. Experience with Cerner electronic health records is mandatory.

Responsibilities:
- Providing comprehensive nursing care to adult and pediatric patients in a busy Emergency Department setting.
- Administering medications including continuous IV sedation emergency medications IV vasopressors and procedural sedation.
- Performing and interpreting 12-lead EKGs managing dysrhythmias and managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
- Managing various cases including CVA spinal cord injury traumatic brain injury orthopedic injuries pediatric cases (abdominal pain asthma head injuries infections etc.) psychiatric cases (acute psychosis drug overdose etc.) and respiratory cases (chest tube management intubation).
- Performing IV therapy phlebotomy and blood product administration.
- Applying splints and managing isolation precautions.
- Utilizing Cerner electronic health records for documentation and charting.
- Triaging patients and providing emergency response.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois or in the application process with an ETA.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.
- ACLS BLS PALS and TNCC certifications.
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring dysrhythmia interpretation and management and emergency response.
- Skills in IV therapy phlebotomy and medication administration (including those listed under Responsibilities).
- Experience managing various patient cases (as listed under Responsibilities).
- Experience with Cerner electronic health records.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in combined adult/pediatric emergency care.
Special Considerations:
- 4x12 or 3x12 night shifts (1845-0715).
- Weekend rotation (every other weekend).
- No on-call requirements.
- No floating to other units.
- Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager.
- Maximum of 5 days of RTO restrictions.
- Guaranteed hours with a maximum of 36 hours of call-offs allowed per 13-week assignment without pay.
Scheduling:
- 4x12 or 3x12 night shifts (1845-0715).
- Weekend rotation (every other weekend).
- Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager.
