Position Overview
We are seeking a Wetlands Scientist to join the Pittsburgh PA this role you will conduct environmental fieldwork perform wetland and stream delineations habitat assessments and prepare technical reports and permit applications. This position directly supports permitting and compliance for large-scale energy utility and infrastructure projects such as pipelines transmission lines substations and renewable energy facilities. The role offers opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative team environment while contributing to projects that have real-world environmental and community impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct wetland delineations stream assessments and habitat evaluations in the field

  • Support siting routing and permitting for energy and infrastructure projects

  • Prepare environmental permit applications (e.g. U.S. Army Corps Section 404/10 PA DEP Chapters 102 & 105)

  • Coordinate with state federal and local regulatory agencies during project development

  • Prepare technical reports and contribute to environmental assessments and planning studies

  • Assist with remediation soil and groundwater sampling and other environmental field services as needed

  • Provide emergency spill response oversight and data analysis when required

  • Support project teams with strong technical writing documentation and communication skills

  • Travel locally and regionally (20 30%) to support fieldwork and client projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Natural Resources Engineering Planning or a related field

  • 4 years of experience in environmental consulting wetland science or regulatory compliance

  • Prior wetland delineation experience; WPIT or PWS certification (or ability to obtain) preferred

  • Strong knowledge of environmental permitting and regulatory processes

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams

  • Excellent organizational technical writing and communication skills

  • Willingness to travel (primarily within PA occasional regional) 20 30% of the time

  • Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to delivering high-quality compliant work
