Job Description

Job Title: Audit Manager / Staff Auditor
Location: Madison WI
Employment Type / Standard Operating Hours: Full-time hybrid.
Eligibility: Local candidates only (must be able to perform on-site client fieldwork).
Client is looking for US citizens and permanent residents only.

Role Overview: Audit Manager

The Audit Manager will oversee assurance engagements for for-profit not-for-profit governmental and ERISA audits as well as reviews and compilations. You will manage engagement teams build strong client relationships and ensure client needs are met with professionalism and excellence.

Duties/Responsibilities

Manage financial statement audits compliance audits reviews compilations and special projects.

Supervise and lead engagement teams ensuring timely completion within budgetary constraints.

Oversee preparation of financial statements footnote disclosures compliance reports and client communications.

Develop trusted client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services.

Implement new accounting and auditing standards ensuring seamless integration with client operations.

Evaluate team performance and foster professional growth through mentorship and training.

Lead training initiatives for assurance team members and identify areas for improvement.

Manage client communications to ensure efficient engagement wrap-up.



Requirements

MUST HAVE:

Current CPA license.

External client audit experience in a public accounting setting.

Proficiency in GAAP and GAAS standards (GAS experience is a plus).

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to work directly with clients and oversight agencies.

NICE TO HAVE:

Experience with governmental audits and ERISA audits.

Familiarity with healthcare real estate construction manufacturing and arts sectors.


Required Skills/Abilities

Expert knowledge of financial accounting cost accounting and auditing principles.

Proficiency in GAAP and GAAS standards (GAS experience is a plus).

Strong analytical problem-solving and organizational skills.

Ability to communicate with oversight agencies and regulatory bodies.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting/audit software.

Leadership skills to train staff at all levels and oversee multiple engagements simultaneously.

Must-Haves: CPA or Tax Attorney license 3 7+ years of experience, with a strong foundation in tax return preparation and review Deep interest in proactive tax strategy and planning Strong communication skills must be comfortable explaining complex tax strategies clearly to clients Ability to handle IRS representation and client-facing advisory (disputes, audits, and calls) Open to learning, adapting to internal systems, and contributing to process improvement Must be located in Florida or Texas
