Job Summary
Special Education Teacher Primary Self-Contained Classroom (K 2)

We are looking for a caring and skilled Special Education Teacher to guide a self-contained classroom for kindergarten through second grade students with low-incidence disabilities with a primary focus on autism. This full-time school-year position provides the chance to shape meaningful learning experiences and help young learners reach their fullest potential.
As the classroom teacher you will establish a supportive and predictable environment that nurtures academic growth functional skills and social development. You ll design individualized education programs (IEPs) deliver targeted instruction aligned with each student s strengths and needs and monitor progress toward learning objectives. Collaboration will be central to your work partnering with families paraprofessionals and related service providers to ensure students receive consistent well-rounded support.
This role is best suited for an educator who is passionate about working with students on the autism spectrum and thrives in structured student-focused settings. You will play a vital role in building a safe inclusive classroom where children are encouraged to develop independence and confidence.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Special Education or related field (Master s preferred).
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement (required).
- Experience supporting students with autism or working in low-incidence settings is highly preferred.
