Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cognos Developer with 4 to 6 years of experience in designing developing and maintaining Cognos BI solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with a Senior Developer to build consolidated and optimized reports ensuring data accuracy system performance and alignment with business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop test and deploy consolidated Cognos reports under the guidance of a Senior Cognos Developer.
Perform unit testing identify and fix defects and provide regression support to ensure consistent report functionality.
Collaborate with QA and UAT teams to resolve issues identified during testing phases.
Document changes validations and test outcomes to support system integrity and audit requirements.
Ensure data accuracy optimize performance and follow Cognos development best practices.
Participate in performance tuning and troubleshooting of reports and dashboards.
Assist in enhancing and maintaining the reporting framework to support business growth and decision-making.
Qualifications & Skills:
4 6 years of hands-on experience in Cognos Report Development (Cognos Analytics 11.x preferred).
Strong understanding of reporting design data modeling and data warehouse concepts.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as DB2 Oracle or SQL Server.
Experience with unit testing issue tracking and bug resolution processes.
Ability to document technical changes perform validations and track outcomes effectively.
Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with Agile or iterative development methodologies is a plus.
Nice to Have:
Experience working in a regulated or financial environment.
Exposure to performance optimization techniques in Cognos.
Familiarity with other BI tools or data visualization platforms.
Required Skills & Qualifications: 10 14 years of hands-on experience with IBM Cognos BI tools (Report Studio, Query Studio, Framework Manager). Expert-level skills in SQL, relational databases, and query performance optimization. Proven experience in report rationalization/consolidation projects across large-scale reporting environments. Deep understanding of data modeling, data validation, and BI architecture. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an eye for optimization and performance. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills. Ability to independently manage tasks while coordinating across cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications: Industry experience in insurance, finance, or risk management domains. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum project methodologies. Exposure to data governance, metadata management, and enterprise BI standards. Deliverables: Consolidation of 900+ existing reports into a refined, efficient set of reports. Detailed documentation including: Report analysis findings Logic consolidation strategies SQL/FW model updates Validation summaries and testing outcomes Clean-up and removal of deprecated/redundant reports from the system.
