ROLE BRIEF
Were seeking a Senior SDE with deep technical expertise and a builder s mindset. You ll architect and scale secure high-performance backend systems for citizen-facing platforms ensuring long-term this high-impact role you ll lead by example writing clean code mentoring peers and driving engineering excellence while shaping digital infrastructure that delivers public goods at scale where technology meets policy and social equity.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead full-cycle product development translating complex needs into scalable backend systems.
Design resilient high-performance microservices and data pipelines.
Mentor engineers promoting code quality technical excellence and agile practices.
Align engineering outcomes with civic impact through cross-functional collaboration.
Enhance reliability via reviews refactoring automation and strong security practices.
Shape platform strategy by adopting emerging technologies.
Ensure scalable compliant systems for national-level services and data integrations.
Drive DevOps excellence with CI/CD cloud-native deployments and observability.
Requirements
SKILLS & EXPERTISE.
Designed and deployed production-grade APIs auth flows and secure data transactions.
Strong in software architecture design patterns and high-throughput system optimisation.
Skilled in ORM frameworks TDD (pytest) performance testing (JMeter) and code quality (SonarQube).
Knowledge of data engineering: ETL pipelines DBT and data modeling.
Proficient in Git workflows Docker and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
Experience integrating RESTful APIs with modern JS frameworks (ReactJS preferred).
Solid foundation in AI/ML LLMs and multi-agent systems.
Strong grasp of design principles interface guidelines algorithms and data structures.
Impact-driven focused on building scalable sustainable tech for public good.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Proven experience in building and scaling digital platforms aimed at social impact
Demonstrated success in planning cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement at national or state levels (with deep expertise in Python Django FastAPI and relational/non-relational databases)
Experience mentoring high-performing technical teams while fostering inclusive values-aligned growth environments

Compensation
The compensation range will be between 10-16LPA depending upon the qualifications experience and fit for the role.

Knowledge and Technical Skills Stakeholder Management Has led and managed a team of 3+ people through a project for 1+ year Partnered with the government and built relations across levels (BDO, SPD, PS, etc) to drive large-scale projects for 1+ year Has worked with government departments at a state-level for at least 2 years Project Management Has managed and delivered projects end-to-end for at least 2+ years Is well versed with principles of designing thinking, planning and execution, budget management, quality control and monitoring and evaluation Data & Technology Is capable of understanding technology (product, not code) used to set up MIS system and envisioning the scope that technology can play to make the implementation smoother Has strong analytical skills to create strategies and analyze data Research and Analysis Has worked on at least 1 project involving fieldwork/primary research (preferred) Has experience with secondary research and data analysis
