POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:Street Outreach Worker
Tentative hours: Monday Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Job Type: Full-time Permanent Position with a Benefit Package after probation
Salary: $45709 per year
REPORTS TO:Manager of Operations
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as a liaison to youth at risk of homelessness
Advocate for youth with landlords schools external agencies etc.
Knowledge and application of suicide intervention techniques
Assist youth with reintegrating with parents/family where deemed appropriate
Mediate conflicts between youth
Build rapport
Maintain basic working knowledge of the Ontario Works Act and the Residential Tenancies Act
Knowledge and application of harm reduction principles
Knowledge of landlord-tenant board rights and responsibilities
Offer tangible support and necessary referrals that will enable youth to make choices regarding their life
Connect youth with appropriate community supports that will assist youth in reaching their full potential (referrals to community resources etc.)
Advocate on behalf of youth experiencing homelessness and youth at risk of homelessness
Attend relevant/related community meetings and community forums
Public speaking as assigned
Attendance/participation at ROOF events and fundraising activities
Frontline support as required
Participation in weekly staff meetings monthly All-Staff meetings and annual or semi-annual performance reviews as well as monthly supervisory meetings
Maintain appropriate documentation and statistics
Crisis intervention and support as needed
Carry a caseload of clients seeking housing
Case Management
Accompany youth to appointments (hospital visits probation court etc.)
Maintain appropriate documentation and statistics
Housing search and research
Client follow-up
Ability to work and collaborate with a work partner
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Education/Experience
A diploma in Community Social Services or education in mental health addictions concurrent disorders and social work
One year of recent related work experience with an emphasis on mental health addictions homelessness and/or social services or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. We look at the whole person
Must have a valid First Aid and CPR certification
Must produce a recent Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record Check
Must have a G Drivers License and provide a Copy of the drivers License
Must have a clean MTO Driver Abstract
