JOBDETAILS
To assist the teacher achieve teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong desire to work with students in an urban setting
- Ability to work effectively with teachers support staff and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
- Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material of skills.
- Guides independent study enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
- Check notebooks corrects papers and supervises testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacher.
- Assist with such large group activities as reading aloud storytelling etc.
- Alerts the regular teacher to any program or special information about an individual student. Communicates with classroom teacher about any concerns regarding students.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of the information about students as is expectedof a fully licensed teacher.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Paraprofessionalsstarting salary is $23.39 per hour.
Additional credits will be adjusted pending verification of additional college credits.
