Open Rank Professor of Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy at Stanford University seeks applicants for an appointment that may be at the rank of Assistant Professor (on the tenure-track) Associate Professor (with tenure) or Full Professor. Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to effective teaching and mentoring and the ability to maintain a world-class research program. The successful candidate must have a PhD in a related field by the time of employment and will be expected to teach and advise students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The term of appointment is expected to begin on September 1 2026.
All areas in philosophy will be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to lead robust research and graduate training programs for the department.

The salary range for this position in academic year 2025-2026 is:
Assistant Professor: $111240 - $130810
Associate Professor: $124630 - $154500
Professor: $144200 - $247200
Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the qualifications of the selected candidate budget availability and internal equity.
