Position: Buyer/Planner

Summary
The Buyer Planner will be a detail-oriented professional with a strong ability to align component supply plans with internal demand requirements. This individual will assess Top Line demand requirements and convert them into vendor supply plans through the ERP system to support production demand while managing internal inventory levels. The Buyer Planner will drive PO generation for Inventory and Non-Inventory requirements for the Trimaster and HPG divisions.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for generating all purchase orders related to MRP outputs for direct material MRO requests and special requests all while managing request dates to ensure we support our internal demand requirements.
- Manage the flow of materials from external supply by reviewing Vendor Order Confirmation as well as performing follow up on inbound orders
- Working with the Master Scheduler to identity impacts to schedules based on de-commitments from our suppliers
- Work with the Senior Buyer group to identify misalignment between internal demand and our vendors supply plans
- Generate Purchase Orders and assist in managing MRO vendor in conjunction with internal requirements
- Coordinate with the Senior Buyer group and Quality to manage the Supplier Metrics/Scorecards to identify problematic vendor and work to implement corrective actions
- Review and monitor planning parameters as well as inventory levels to support the inventory metrics
- May perform other duties as assigned by the Materials Director
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree/diploma an accredited university/college in Operations/Supply Chain/Business
- Minimum 2-3 years experience as a buyer/material planner in a manufacturing environment
- Sound working knowledge of the material planning role within a medium manufacturing facility an asset
- Experience working with supply partners and resolving supply related issues
- Demonstrated level of proficiency in Excel
- Experience and proficient in MS Dynamics or comparable ERP software experience an asset
- APICS CPIM/CSCP desirable
- Great communications and presentation skills
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast pace environment and have strong leadership ability
- Understands applies and advocates all Company Environmental and Safety policies procedures and standards
