The North America (NA) SFF Transportation Lead is accountable to the network design of Amazons outbound fulfillment supply chain for SFF initiative. They will be responsible for defining the connectivity strategies that bring our customers packages at the fastest speed and lowest cost possible. Our initiatives deliver on the solutions that power the physical fulfillment to millions of customers across the world.
As part of the Alternate fulfillment Team you will partner closely with other Amazon Departments such as Operations Engineering Finance and Research Science in order to design connectivity that meets the needs of our customers. We will also look to you for evaluation and implementation of new processes that will improve our transportation network and planning systems. This position is specifically focused on the new SFF launch and Topology design.

Key job responsibilities
The SFF transportation Lead is responsible for defining the long-term strategic vision for Alternate fulfillment. This encompasses four critical areas:
- Evolving SFFs Connectivity and Design: Developing a transportation network design that enables full attainment without compromising costs or fill rates. They own the end-to-end design modeling and attainment simulation blending technical business and operational considerations into the analysis.
- Aligning SFFs Design with the Wider AFN: Ensuring SFFs evolution is complementary to the needs of the broader Amazon Fulfillment Network (AFN) while also divergent when SFFs total value may require an alternative approach to AFN.
- Optimizing SFFs Speed to Support Customer Needs: Determining the appropriate balance between speed and cost optimization for SFF across product profiles major MSAs and network types.
- Leveraging Transportation to Improve SFFs Cost-to-Serve: Evaluating economies of scale trade-offs to enhance SFFs cost structure how to balance truck-fill rates with connectivity and vice versa.
Inherent in this strategy is a high degree of complexity as SFF operates outside of the core network and does not function like a traditional Amazon Fulfillment Center. This requires the leader to possess a deep understanding of network dynamics SFFs unique limitations (e.g. location selection vendor warehouse topology) and the technological changes within SCOT that may impact carrier mix and entitlement.
To achieve this ambitious vision the SFF Lead must wield a high level of influence and earn the trust of a diverse set of stakeholders including senior leaders across GTS NA Sort Center AMZL Retail SCOT and Supply addition to defining the long-term strategy the leader oversees the tactical aspects of a 30 site network an launch new sites in 2026 each with its own unique constraints regarding operating hours location and carrier reliability. This involves direct collaboration with operational partners to address performance metrics around DEA quality and departure adherence as well as owning the defect resolution process with carriers.
Beyond these core responsibilities the SFF Lead is also accountable for Think Big ideas that leverage Alternate fulfillment capabilities to solve evolving Amazon pain points. A primary example is to be super local <160 miles with >80% 1D and 2D GVS where the leader owns the transportation strategy for deploying SFF sites within existing Amazon idle assets to improve direct-to-customer routes and attainment.
- 3 years of program or project management experience
- 3 years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- 3 years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- 2 years of supply chain experience
- Bachelors degree
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
- 3 years of driving end to end delivery and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 3 years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in stakeholder management dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes project management and schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $77200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
