As we continue to grow we are seeking a highly skilled **Freelance Technical Writer** to support the development of our technical documentation and communication materials.
### **Position Overview:**
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Technical Writer to work remotely on an ongoing basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating clear concise and well-organized technical documentation for various internal and external needs including restaurant operations training manuals software documentation and marketing materials. The role requires the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and transform complex technical concepts into accessible and user-friendly content.
### **Key Responsibilities:**
* **Create and Maintain Documentation:** Develop write and maintain a wide range of technical documents including process guides operational manuals training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* **Content Development for Digital Platforms:** Write and maintain content for our website digital marketing campaigns and internal platforms ensuring consistency in tone and style.
* **Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs):** Work closely with restaurant managers chefs and IT staff to gather technical information and ensure accuracy in documentation.
* **Ensure Clarity and Usability:** Write documents that are clear concise and user-friendly ensuring they are easy to navigate and understand for all employees and customers.
* **Review and Edit:** Review and edit content for clarity grammar and style to meet organizational standards and industry best practices.
* **Technical Writing Standards:** Adhere to established technical writing guidelines and best practices maintaining a high level of detail and accuracy in all content.
* **Documentation for Software and Systems:** Write user manuals and troubleshooting guides for proprietary software or operational systems used within the restaurant group.
* **Project Management:** Manage multiple writing projects simultaneously ensuring deadlines are met and content is delivered to stakeholders in a timely manner.
### **Required Skills & Qualifications:**
* **Experience:** 3 years of experience in technical writing preferably in the hospitality restaurant or technology sectors.
* **Writing Skills:** Exceptional writing editing and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
* **Understanding of Technical Concepts:** Ability to understand and document technical processes systems and tools in a user-friendly manner.
* **Research Skills:** Strong research skills to effectively gather information from various sources including SMEs and technical documentation.
* **Collaboration Skills:** Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team to gather information meet deadlines and deliver quality content.
* **Software Knowledge:** Proficiency with technical writing tools (e.g. Microsoft Word Google Docs Confluence etc.) and basic understanding of content management systems (CMS).
* **Communication:** Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* **Attention to Detail:** Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and consistency in all documentation.
* **Project Management:** Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
### **Preferred Qualifications:**
* **Experience in the Restaurant Industry:** Familiarity with restaurant operations POS systems and food service procedures is a plus.
* **Familiarity with Design Tools:** Basic knowledge of design tools (e.g. Adobe InDesign Canva or similar) for creating visually appealing documents.
* **Experience with Software Documentation:** Prior experience creating technical documentation for software or digital platforms is a plus.
### **Contract Details:**
* **Location:** This is a remote freelance position allowing you to work from anywhere in the United State.
* **Duration:** Ongoing contract (with an initial 3-month probationary period).
* **Compensation:** Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
* **Schedule:** Flexible work hours with a requirement to meet agreed-upon deadlines and milestones.
