Join Peraton in advancing the safety efficiency and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the FAAs Business National Airspace and Technical Computing Services (BNATCS) contract. Join a team dedicated to protecting the safety and integrity of U.S. air travel. Peraton is seeking a Radio Engineerto join our team of qualified diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will lead the design and technical oversight of radio communication systems including migration to Radio-over-IP (RoIP) ensuring interoperability resiliency and quality of service across FAA operational environments. This position offers an opportunity to modernize critical communication networks that support the safety and efficiency of the national airspace system. Whether youre supporting safety validation efforts or leading teams on major FAA programs your work will directly impact the millions of passengers and aviation professionals who rely on safe efficient airspace operations every day.

In this position you will:

  • Lead the design integration and oversight of FAA radio communication systems and RoIP migrations.

  • Develop technical specifications network diagrams and configuration standards for radio systems.

  • Ensure interoperability and compatibility with existing FAA and partner agency communication networks.

  • Monitor and validate quality of service (QoS) resiliency and system performance under operational conditions.

  • Provide technical guidance to subcontractors and engineering teams ensuring adherence to FAA standards.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure cybersecurity and operations teams to integrate RoIP solutions seamlessly.

  • Conduct site assessments testing and troubleshooting to resolve radio network issues.

  • Maintain documentation and training materials for operational teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelors degree and 12 years of experience or Masters degree and 10 years or Associates degree and 14 years experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 16 years experience.
  • Proven experience indesigning and implementing radio communication systems including RoIP technologies.
  • Solid understanding of RF principles network protocols and QoS optimization.

  • Experience ensuring system interoperability and resiliency in mission-critical environments.

  • Proven ability to manage technical oversight of subcontractors or vendors.

  • Strong analytical troubleshooting and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to FAA programs or NAS systems.
  • Experience designing security architectures for FAA systems or other critical infrastructure environments.
  • Certifications such as FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) CCNA or equivalent.

  • Experience with digital trunked radio systems P25 standards or aviation communication protocols.

  • Knowledge of cloud or hybrid network architectures supporting RoIP deployments.

  • Background in network security practices for radio and IP-based systems.
