Certification Engineer

Full Time Fixed Term 12 Month Maternity Cover

Onsite - Bristol

What you will be doing

When you join as a Certification Engineer in our Defence team in Bristol youll be supporting our Defence Assembly operations by delivering Original Equipment (OE) and Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) certification to meet programme this role youll take ownership of certification activities for OE and MRO engines and modules working closely with the wider certification team to ensure the highest standards of compliance and delivery.

In this role youll ensure the compliance and release of engines and modules to the highest regulatory and quality standards. Youll work across Engineering Quality Operations and directly with customers to ensure that certification processes are robust accurate and aligned with approved design data.

Responsibilities

Youll be:

  • Obtaining and maintaining the required training approvals and warrants to carry out certification activities.

  • Ensuring all engine and module processes (induction repair build test and despatch) are fully compliant with regulations and approved design data.

  • Reviewing and validating documentation such as Modifications Concessions and Airworthiness Directives to confirm compliance and accurate application.

  • Managing the impact of non-conformance on certification and supporting resolution through structured problem-solving methods.

  • Authorising the airworthiness and release of products on behalf of Rolls-Royce PLC.

Who were looking for

Were seeking someone with strong technical knowledge problem-solving skills and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams. Youll be confident working with regulatory standards and able to make sound data-driven decisions to ensure certification integrity. Youll need:

  • Previous experience in the Aeronautical industry is necessary

  • ONC / HNC (NVQ Level 4) or equivalent qualification.

  • Experience in non-conformance management and certification processes.

  • Skilled in structured problem-solving methods such as 8D Root-Cause Analysis or Problem Resolution Process.

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to engage across technical and operational teams.

The professional level and salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate but is anticipated to be Staff Grade 7-10

To work for the Rolls-Royce Defence an individual must hold a BPSS clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for BPSS if you do not currently already have this in place.
