Position: Community Outreach Coordinator
Wage: $32.79 per hour
This position requires BCGEU union membership. Position JJEP: Grid Level 14 Step 1
Hours: 21 hours per week for a period of 12 months (CONTRACT).
Work hours fall primarily Monday Friday between 9am 5pm; some evening and weekend dutiesrequired.

Position Summary: The Community Outreach Coordinator position focuses on developing connections with community organizations and groups facilitates workshops attends community events and support with referrals and resource sharing.

Job Responsibilities:
Under direction from the program manager the Community Outreach Coordinator:
Community Connection
- Connects with VSACs existing community partners to strengthen relationships and share knowledge.
- Connects with organizations to establish relationships understand their referral process and share information about VSACs services and programs.
- Works closely with all VSAC departments to share relevant information about the services and programs of other organizations.
- Works closely with all VSAC departments to support the preparation and facilitation of program events in the community (Ex. Fundraisers tabling events youth education etc.).
- Attends relevant community events and meetings with staff or volunteers from VSAC or attends independently. Engages with community members at events and meetings to provide information about VSAC services and programs.
Workshop Development and Facilitation
- Facilitates workshops in the community about VSACs services consent and gender-based violence. Engages with staff and community members at workshops to provide information.
- Coordinates resources/knowledge sharing for VSAC staff collected from meetings/events with external facilitators/organizations.
Administration
- Monitors program expenditures (ex. travel Honoria food etc.)
- Maintains related records statistics and reports as required (including monthly activities report for the Board of Directors)
- Write the monthly department report outlining activities and resources to be shared with the Board of Directors.
- Maintains awareness of current issues in the field of outreach through reading professional development and other activities.
- Regular communication with the Communications manager to inform of relevant community events/information to be included in VSAC social media
Organizational Participation
- Participates in various internal and external committees working groups collaborations networks etc. as time permits.
- Participates constructively as a member of the staff team with the Program Managers Executive Director and Centre as a whole.
- Ensures work performed reflects the mission beliefs values and goals of VSAC.
- Develops a sound understanding of sexualized violence and its root causes of feminism Trans inclusion and anti-oppressive and decolonial practices.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- A diploma or degree in communications public health or related fields.
- 2 years of experience in outreach or community education activities OR an equivalent combination of training education and experience.
- Experience developing and facilitating workshops in community settings
- Strong understanding of the root causes of sexualized violence and the anti-violence sector
- Experience working directly with survivors of violence is an asset
- Valid drivers license and vehicle are an asset (mileage provided)
Job Skills and Abilities:
For this position we are looking for a candidate with:
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
- Relationship development with community organizations and members
- Program coordination development and evaluation skills.
- A strong understanding of anti-oppressive practice and inclusive frameworks.
- A strong understanding of an intersectional analysis of sexualized violence and the ability to implement this analysis to promote VSACs mission values beliefs and goals in various settings
- Proficient use of MS Word MS Excel and MS Outlook including the ability to produce documents flyers spreadsheets etc.
- A high level of motivation that demonstrates initiative primarily focused on promotion and program development.
