Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Apparel Events and Hospitality Management in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking an accomplished scholar and educator for a tenure-track or tenured position at the rank of Assistant Associate or Full Professor in Fashion Design and Merchandising. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching research and service in areas such as digital knitting computer-aided design product development and fashion informatics. They will also be expected to mentor graduate students and contribute to curriculum innovation including the development of new courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with digital knitting systems (e.g. Shima Seiki Stoll)

• Proficiency in CAD programs such as Gerber Accumark Optitex Clo3D Adobe Suite Midjourney and Stable Diffusion

• Ability to teach a range of courses including product development flat pattern making draping and graduate-level research methodology

• Interest in developing innovative courses

• Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration in teaching and research
  

Department/Program & College Description:

The Department of Apparel Events and Hospitality Management is one of five units in the College of Health and Human Sciences with 18 tenure-track faculty 11 term faculty members and 7 Professional and Scientific staff. Recently faculty generated more than $3.6 million in external funding. Approximately 550 undergraduate students pursue majors in Fashion Design and Merchandising Event Management and Hospitality Management. The Department also offers an M.S. in Event Management and both an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Fashion Design and Merchandising and Hospitality Management. Currently more than 100 graduate students are enrolled in these programs. The Department includes the Digital Apparel and Textiles Studio Event Technology and Innovation Lab Innovate 1858 Joan Bice Underwood Tearoom the SPARKS Cafe and the Textile and Clothing Museum. Extension programs and engagement with local communities plays a vital role in the Departments mission.
