Adult Inpatient Services at Sheppard Pratt provide comprehensive psychiatric care for adults experiencing acute mental health challenges. Our programs are designed to support stabilization safety and recovery within a structured hospital setting.
What to expect:
The Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides direct psychiatric care through evaluation diagnosis and treatment including prescribing and managing medications. Patients are treated within the hospital setting where the nurse practitioner conducts admission assessments develops individualized treatment plans and provides both individual and group therapies. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team the nurse practitioner plays a critical role in supporting stabilization recovery and continuity of care.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Complete psychiatric evaluations admission physicals and diagnostic assessments.
- Initiate and coordinate individualized treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Prescribe and manage medications ordering tests and adjusting treatment as needed.
- Provide individual and group therapy to support patient progress.
- Monitor patient outcomes document care accurately and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients families and staff fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of excellence in care.
- Serve as a mentor to junior staff modeling best practices and supporting professional growth.

What we need from you:
Active Maryland Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license.
Maryland Controlled Substances Registration with valid DEA Certificate.
Minimum two years of experience preferred including training and practical experience in an acute psychiatric setting.
The pay range for this position is $135000 minimum to $185000 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to board certifications and years and level of related experience.
