CORE Responsibilities :
Technical implementation and customization of transaction monitor systems such as IBM Safer Payments or BAE Netreveal or Actimize solutions.
System Implementation & Configuration: Setting up and configuring the IBM Safer Payments environment to meet business requirement.
Develop Model strategy develop model strategy to meet the business requirement.
Rule & Model Development: Creating and tuning custom fraud detection rules and scenarios. This involves using the systems built-in tools as well as integrating external models built with Python or other data science tools.
System Integration: Ensuring the Safer Payments system integrates seamlessly with the clients existing payment systems and data flows including messaging and APIs.
Data Analysis: Analyzing large volumes of payment transaction data to identify patterns of both normal and fraudulent behavior.
Performance Tuning: Optimizing the system for high performance ensuring it can process thousands of payments per second with minimal latency and a low false-positive rate. Monitor system performance and message flow to ensure timely fraud detection.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnosing and resolving issues and providing ongoing support and maintenance for the system and its rules. Troubleshoot issues related to data ingestion model execution and alert generation
Work closely with fraud analysts quality assurance data scientists and operations teams to align technical configurations with business rules.
Document configuration changes integration points and operational procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
2 years of Data Science specifically in the following areas:
Gathered and processed large datasets from transactional systems CRM platforms and third-party APIs.
Identified key behavioral patterns and anomalies in customer transactions using Machine Learning techniques
5 years of programming & Scripting: Strong knowledge of scripting languages like Java Python and query languages like SQL and PL/SQL.
5 years of Database Knowledge: Experience with databases and the ability to work with large data sets. Applies advanced data analytics to enhance the quality and efficiency of fraud detection systems.
2 years Payment Systems: A solid understanding of banking payment systems and financial fraud prevention.
2 years System Administration: Familiarity with Unix command-line navigation and configuration actions.
Nice-to-have Skills:
Fraud Prevention & AI: Experience with fraud prevention or other related financial crime solutions is highly beneficial. Knowledge of machine learning concepts and how to apply them to fraud detection is also a plus.
Upholds the independence and integrity of the development practice.
Maintains a strong understanding of the financial industry and internal operations to support the design and implementation of fraud monitoring solutions.
Builds and sustains effective working relationships with key stakeholders across business and technology teams.
Operates independently and demonstrates sound judgment in handling complex and non-routine situations.
Integration & API Work: Experience on implementing and maintaining integrations using theIBM Safer Payments API or any other Fraud detection systems ( i.e. etc) connecting external systems (e.g. payment processors fraud alert systems) and ensuring secure and reliable data exchange between systems in the Bank.

Drives the overall software development lifecycle including working across functional teams to transform requirements into features managing development teams and processes and conducting software testing and maintenance. Specific project areas of focus includes translating user requirements into technical specifications writing code and managing the preparation of design specifications. Supports system design provides advice on security requirements and debugs business systems and service applications. Applies deep knowledge of algorithms data structures and programming languages to develop high quality technology applications and services - including tools standards and relevant software platforms based on business requirements.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location skills experience education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groups expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Groups total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives discretionary bonuses as well as other perks and rewards.
