Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirements
High school diploma or equivalent;
Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities ActAssociates Degree or have scored at least a 4 in math or reading and a 3 or better in writing on the WorkKeys test.
Demonstrated physical ability to lift and move students to support student needs including personal care diapering transfers to and from wheelchair tube feeding medication administration (oral rectal and through gastric tube) augmentative communication assistive technology devices and wheelchair mobility;
Experience working with students with cognitive and physical impairments preferred
Ability to physically attend to student needs including personal care hygiene toileting etc.
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to follow implement and document all aspects of Positive Behavior Intervention Plan
Ability to be flexible with varying student needs and schedule changes
Ability to monitor and manage student behavior
Ability and willingness to perform recess monitoring bus loading/unloading and lunchroom supervision as necessary
Effective communication skills with a variety of staff and students
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Ability to work with children in a caring nurturing manner
Demonstrates flexibility teamwork and organization
CPI/Ukeru trained preferred;
Perform all other duties assigned by the classroom teachers principal and/or Director of Special Education
