Job Description:
Reporting to the Embedded Linux team lead you will be part of the FPGA divisions Software and Systems Engineering group. As a Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer you will work on enhancing Microchips RISC-V base application processors Linux support.

This role provides the opportunity to work on cutting edge open-source technologies including the development and upstreaming of embedded Linux drivers for Microchips PolarFire 2 SoC and future RISC-V based application processors.
Key job responsibilities/duties include:
Work with commercial partners and the open-source Linux community to enhance Microchips RISC-V application processors Linux support
Develop and upstream Microchips RISC-V application processors support into mainline Linux
Develop and integrate software components into Microchips RISC-V application processors
Resolve technical issues in collaboration with the SoC FPGA silicon engineering team
Requirements/Qualifications:
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or Electrical / Electronics.
7 years working experience in software development within industry or relevant technical field.

Competencies
Fluency in C and/or C
Knowledge of embedded systems and processor architectures
Device driver development and upstreaming
Kernel level debugging
Experience with Yocto Buildroot or another Linux distribution build system
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Experience working with Git and Continuous Integration tools
RISC-V processor architecture experience is an advantage
Security and encryption technologies is an advantage
Familiarity with FPGA system design is an advantage
