Center for Humanities and Digital Research:
UCFs Center for Humanities and Digital Research (CHDR) is a collaborative research hub in the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) connecting faculty researchers and graduate research associates with community partners and grant-making institutions through project planning technical expertise grant writing and ultimately dissemination in conjunction with the scholarly and literary journals also housed in the college. The intellectual and technical resources of CAH come to bear in CHDR where groundbreaking interdisciplinary digital research is fostered and shared through the academy and the surrounding communities of Central Florida and beyond.
The Opportunity:
The Associate Director of the Center for Humanities and Digital Research (CHDR) in the College of Arts and Humanities University of Central Florida will support the Centers mission to advance interdisciplinary scholarship at the intersection of humanities and technology. This leadership role will involve collaborating with faculty and students on digital research projects managing technical infrastructure facilitating workshops and consultations and contributing to grant writing and strategic planning. The Associate Director will play a key role in expanding CHDRs visibility and impact across campus and beyond fostering innovation in digital humanities and supporting the Centers academic and public programming initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for directing regular operations of the Center for Humanities and Digital Research (CHDR) establishing goals and objectives and developing recommending and implementing programs and policies.
Provide leadership in CHDR operations supervising staff and students and ensuring that faculty conducting projects in CHDR comply with all policies and best practices.
Assist Director(s) and ADR as representative to external groups public and private.
Advise and assist in the planning and implementation of CHDR initiatives including the conceptualization design and implementation of digital humanities (DH) projects submission of grants to support new research and development of DH workshops.
The incumbent will also be able to communicate effectively with other technical staff and will be able to work on digital collaboration between the humanities and other disciplines.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree and 6 years of relevant experience with at least 2 years of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in a humanities discipline digital humanities or related field.
Demonstrated experience in digital project development and management.
Experience in working in interdisciplinary research environments.
Proficiency in digital tools such as Omeka WordPress TEI/XML and data visualization platforms.
Familiarity with programming languages (e.g. Python JavaScript) and database systems (e.g. MySQL PostgreSQL).
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Experience with grant writing and academic collaboration.
Experience in teaching or mentoring students in masters and/or doctoral programs.
Demonstrated experience in organizational leadership including personnel management strategic planning and operational administration within an academic setting.
