We are currently seeking a Senior Scientist with extensive experience in molecular biology to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team focused on developing gene editing tools for therapeutic applications. The successful candidate will conduct investigative studies in the preclinical development and evaluation of therapeutic candidates under the guidance of the Research Scientist or Associate Director of the Gene Editing Institute(GEI).
This role involves performing laboratory-based investigations into novel therapeutics for the treatment of solid tumors. The position is critical in supporting preclinical projects throughout the drug discovery process. Responsibilities include conducting and analyzing both in vitro and in vivo experiments to assess the efficacy of candidate drugs and to dissect the mechanisms of action of novel cancer therapies.
The candidate will independently perform and be responsible for cell-based assays tissue culture experiments general molecular biology techniques and gene editing techniques. This position requires flexibility to manage several cell-based projects simultaneously.
At the ChristianaCare Gene Editing Institute we explore the potential of CRISPR-directed gene editing for application in oncology. Our mission is to translate innovative research from the lab to clinical practice by using CRISPR technology to improve outcomes for cancer patients.
Bachelors degree with 6 years of work experience required 3-4 years Masters or 0-2 years PhD degree preferred in biological sciences or related field
Experience in a biotechnology or academic research setting is required.
Experience with a variety of biological techniques
Experience with managing multiple tasks simultaneously
Background in biology including hands-on experience with performing routine molecular and biochemical assays conducting and interpretation of individual research projects. Previous experience supervising and advising staff and/or students is desired. Previous experience working with CRISPR/Cas is a plus but not mandatory. Some leadership experience preferred.
