An exciting In-Service Configuration Engineer opportunity has arisen for a talented engineer to join our team in our Service Data Centre / Availability Centre based at Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby.
As the In-Service Configuration Engineer you will actively track assess and manage Rolls-Royce Submarines assets through configuration software and multi-site collaboration assisting in the nuclear deterrent operating as efficiently and safely as possible.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office home or another remote location. Its a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum were all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons on average three days per week.
What you will be doing
As an In-Service Configuration Engineer you will be:
- Managing and maintaining configuration records of all submarines currently in-build or in-service.
- Deliver author / technical checking of configuration control documentation as required by the business.
- Management of life limited components fitted on submarines.
- Liaise with site office to ensure a current and up to date record of boat asset inventory and serviceability status during maintenance periods.
- Make continual improvements to Maximo / In-Service Configuration processes.
- Respond to queries within the business to provide configuration guidance when required and support resolution of problems with the in-service and in-build fleet.

- An Engineering background ideally in Manufacturing or Process or Design with an understanding or experience of managing the configuration of an in-service product/asset.
- Experience of inputting and manipulating data in database systems (such as IBM Maximo and Cognos) or Microsoft Office based applications (e.g. Excel and Access and Power BI).
- Customer focussed with capable communication and influencing skills working with all levels of stakeholders
- Ideally qualified to HND/ foundation degree / degree level in engineering or significant engineering experience.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individualswho are a UK national or in MoD approved cases a dual national.
