    Grades 6-12 Special Education Paras Needed (Jackson Hole High School and Jackson Hole Middle School)*Location placement will be based on student enrollment building need and applicant skill set.

    Hiring Bonus:

    Special Education Paras at either location listed above hired from 10/1/25 and after will be eligible for a $3000.00 hiring bonus over two years of employment. Special Education Para must commit to two years of employment to be eligible for this bonus. Half ($1500.00) will be paid upon hire with employees first paycheck. The second half ($1500.00) will be paid at the start of the second year of employment. Employment for a full school year must be completed and a commitment to be employed moving into year two must be completed to receive the second half. Part year resignations may result in a prorated amount being owed to TCSD from the employees final paycheck. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.

    Special Education Teachers Sped Coordinator and Building Principal(s)

    NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:

    To assist special education and general education teachers in implementing programs for students with disabilities. The paraprofessional provides assistance both to teachers and students in both academics and social/emotional instruction. This position works across the school setting in various inclusion classrooms and specialized programs with students requiring specialized instruction and assistance.

    JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Work with individual students or small groups of students under the direction of the special or general education teacher in a program outlined in the students IEP.

    • Use effective instructional and classroom management strategies to engage students with disabilities in their general education classroom activities.

    • Assist with progress monitoring tasks and other record keeping duties as assigned.

    • Assist teacher and staff with lifting and moving of children with physical disabilities as appropriate.

    • Assist with students in accessing the general education curriculum and program.

    • Assist teachers and students in providing accommodations and/or modifications as specified in each students Individualized Education Plan.

    • Assist with the supervision of students during school arrival and dismissal times lunch recess and on field trips.

    • Alert the teacher to any problems or special information concerning student learning or safety

    • Perform clerical bulletin board and classroom clean up duties as assigned

    • Obtain and maintain CPI certification.

    • Serve as the chief source of information and assistance for a substitute teacher

    • Maintain student confidentiality as required by State and Federal statutes

    • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the teacher principal or director of special education

    EDUCATION LICENSE CERTIFICATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:

    • High School Diploma or G.E.D

    • Associates Degree required Bachelors Degree preferred

    • Spanish skills preferred

    • A combination of education and experience that prepares applicant for this position

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit on the floor depending on the age of the children. While performing the duties of this job the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. 0 - 12 feet and on occasion up to 20 feet such as boxes of books and AV/VCR carts. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person may need to lift arms to write on chalk or marking board and occasionally stoop kneel crouch and reach 0 - 24 inches and up to 36 inches above the head. The employee is directly responsible for the safety well-being and work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed materialthe ability to adjust focus and exposure to screen(s) via technology. Hearing ability to monitor activity and presence of students and respond to communication with students and adults is required. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is normally low to moderate but may become loud when large groups are together in a room. The employee may be required to move from room to room to provide instruction and may have to maneuver in crowded hallways. Duties are typically performed indoors and occasionally outdoors such as playground duty or when students are boarding or unloading buses. The employee may be exposed to unpredictable weather conditions. This position is typically performed in a hazard free clean and healthy environment.
