Job Description

Job Summary

As a key member of the School of Arts (SoA) Academic Advising Centerpart of the College of the Arts (COTA) at California State University Long Beach (CSULB)the Administrative Support Coordinator (ASC) ensures a welcoming and efficient environment by supporting students directly coordinating office operations supervising student staff and collaborating with faculty academic advisors and other campus partners. The ASC also supports programs and initiatives to retain and enhance the academic success of all art students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate student services and front desk operations. Maintain coverage for the SoA Academic Advising Center front desk train and schedule student assistants as needed.
  • Provide administrative and academic support. Use Canvas email and social media to inform and update students of registration dates deadlines portfolio submission requirements and other academic information.
  • Coordinate recruitment onboarding and supervision of student ambassadors and assistants.
  • Provide program and event support. Host informational workshops and other events for both current and prospective students.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Familiarity with academic environments and student advising is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office email platforms and social media tools. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.

Education and Experience

Minimum high school program technical/vocational program or equivalent preferred.

Occasionally working weekend/nights required.

Experience:

Equivalent to 4 years of related office work experience required.

Arts experience in a higher education setting is preferred.

Physical Summary

Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.

Licenses

Possession of a valid CA drivers license preferred

Administrative Support Coordinator I

CSUEU: Effective 10/1/2025 a new salary step structure and job classifications will be implemented under the CSU-CSUEU Agreement. Job duties will remain unchanged; however this position may be assigned to a new classification with an updated salary range. Employees will be notified of any changes. Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $3864 - $4128 per month commensurate with candidates education experience skills and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3864 - $6072 per month.

1.0 time-base 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
