Provides educational opportunities to Perioperative RNs CSTs and ancillary support staff within Surgical Services by scheduling appropriate in-services providing presentations and developing an annual education plan for all staff. Is an expert clinical resource to others and builds and implements practices based on nationally recognized standards of care using evidence based practices to implement best practices.
Represents Surgical Services and helps with Infection Control and Risk/Quality issues.
Develops policies and procedures to manage the care of the surgical patient; initiates and participates in quality initiatives to improve care of the patient.
Identifies changes needed to improve the patient experience and develops plans to meet organizational goals.
Reviews and investigates risks to the patient and makes recommendations to improve patient safety.
Implements and monitors patient care initiatives.
Generates reports relevant to the operations of the department.
Provides unit orientation to new staff monitors development and competencies of all staff.
Tracks departmental compliance with house-wide mandatory requirements.
Demonstrates exemplary professionalism and customer service skills.
Collaborates OR leadership and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff.
Designs delivers and assesses learning activities and curriculums related to clinical competencies departmental/organizational policies regulatory requirements and the use of clinical information technologies.
Serves as a consultant/mentor for staff in areas of program development clinical practice and professional development.
Participates in the development coordination and delivery of new staff orientation and education activities.

What we are looking for
Minimum Education
Bachelors degree required
Masters degree in Nursing highly preferred.
Required Skills
Licenses: Current RN license to practice in NC.
Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
