We are hiring: Data and Software Specialist

Starting Wage

  • Salary: The starting salary for this position is $21.00-$25.00 DOE.

Schedule

  • Standard Hours: Days Monday-Friday

Training

  • Orientation: Alternatives provides thorough orientation and training for all new staff. You can expect a one-week orientation where you will learn all about Alternatives and be prepared for your role. This first week is scheduled from 9 AM to 5 PM at our Alternatives Training Center.

What Skills do you need

The Data and Support Specialist must meet the following requirements to succeed in this role:

  • Associate degree or equivalent and one years work experience in Information Systems.
    • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • A curious mindset and eager attitude to learn about Agency business processes and technical tools.
  • A strong ability to teach others. An outgoing patient personality is imperative.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products.
  • Excellent time-management skills and accountability.
  • A background in training especially in Information Systems/IT realm is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to pass federal drug test and background.
  • Valid drivers license.

What youll do in this position:

This role primarily focuses on staff training including software programs such as: TOM Microsoft SharePoint Mitel Zoom and Teams administration as well as troubleshooting system and application issues.

  • The Data and Software Support Specialist will be responsible for designing implementing and managing ongoing IT and software training programs for Agency personnel. This includes onboarding new employees with instruction on proprietary Agency software Microsoft applications and other relevant tools as well as providing refresher courses and updates for existing staff as needed.
  • In addition to training responsibilities the specialist will assist with IT support and administration tasks such as setting up login credentials deactivating accounts when necessary researching and learning new software requests and collaborating closely with the Technical Manager to ensure smooth technical operations.
  • Strong interpersonal prioritization and time management skills are essential as this role involves regular interaction with Agency staff and coordination with external IT support providers.

About the team

You will be joining the Technical Manager who has been with the Agency since 2020 and who excels in keeping our systems running and managed on a day-to-day basis.

She is ready to help you learn your role and excel in training our Agency staff in various software programs.

  • Increased Accrual with Tenure: Accrual rates increase at 3 years 5 years and every subsequent 5-year mark up to 25 years.
  • Pro Rata Basis: Accrual rates for employees working 20-30 hours per week are on a pro rata basis.

  • Part-Time Employees: Employees working 20-30 hours per week also receive paid holidays on a pro rata basis.
