Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates and provides pastoral and spiritual care and counseling for a designated area or for a clinical service.
  • Plans and conducts religious services.
  • May provide consultation on ethical issues.
  • May provide individual and group counseling sessions and crisis intervention.
  • May develop and facilitate various support groups.
  • Participates in or chairs committees.
  • Assists in planning implementing and evaluating established programs policies and procedures.
  • Assesses and identifies areas for program development and assists in establishing new initiatives.
  • Writes and publishes in professional journals.
  • May teach or lecture by invitation.
  • Prepares and conducts workshops and discussion groups on topics related to pastoral care.
  • Hospital based positions may participate in patient treatment plans and multi-disciplinary rounds.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education;
  • A masters degree in Divinity Theology or a masters level equivalency as required by a specialized spiritual/philosophical/religious group (i.e. Buddhism Judaism Islam Catholicism Humanist Bahai etc..).
  • Ordination license or endorsement by an acknowledged ecclesiastical body or specialized spiritual/philosophical/religious group preferred.
