Job Summary
The China Quality Manager plays a critical governance and partnership role in ensuring the adherence to quality standards and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within Maersk Contract Logistics China. The role focuses on ensuring quality processes are executed facilitating partnerships with stakeholders and providing insights to uphold compliance and mitigate risks. As an individual contributor the Quality Manager collaborates closely with operational teams MCL China head regional Quality manager to achieve shared quality objectives.
The role is expected to provide thought-leadership around the quality management system framework identifying and participating in initiatives to strengthen the tools and practices adopted across the business and fostering collaboration with other Areas/countries. As a quality leader he/she strengthens partnerships with operations and site operation teams and provides critical insights to the business to uphold compliance and mitigate risks and most importantly to meet customer requirements.
In order to succeed in this role regular travel within China is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Governance and Compliance: Implement and maintain quality frameworks and standards aligned with China and regional goals and conduct reviews audits and assessments to ensure QMS and regulatory compliance. Identify compliance gaps and collaborate on corrective actions.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Guide site operation teams on quality standards and best practices building relationships with site leaders and area MCL leaders to align on quality goals. Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate quality into business processes.
- Risk Identification and Mitigation: Identify and escalate quality risks to MCL Head of China or the Regional Quality Manager. Propose and implement risk mitigation strategies with stakeholders.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Analyze area-specific quality metrics and share insights with MCL Head of China or the Regional Quality Manager. Provide updates on trends and improvement areas.
- Continuous Improvement & Quality Excellence: Drive initiatives to enhance quality performance and reduce defects. Identify and implement best practices across sites.
- Training and Enablement: - upskilling and awareness to develop a culture of quality across the MCL organization including operations BD etc.
- Financial control: Participate in budgeting exercises for the sites concerned.
Responsible for individual and company expenses for the quality function.
- Establish food safety management system and collaborate with warehouse operation team for implementation to meet customer requirements and support new business growth.
- ISO 9001 Governance Support: Ensure consistent application of ISO 9001 standards in the area by contributing to certification-related documentation and activities.
Qualifications
- Qualified quality professional or prior experience (min 8 years) in a Quality role.
- Deep understanding of quality management standards/methodologies and legislation of the food safety for logistics field (e.g. BRCGS GFSI ISO 22000 HACCP GB31605 etc.)
- Trained as an ISO9001 Lead Auditor or equivalent
- Preferably have product knowledge of our key products and services (Contract Logistics Trucking Cold Chain Logistics etc.) but not required.
- Autonomous with a can-do attitude. He/she takes initiative and proposes solutions to problems encountered. Does not hesitate to involve others to gather insights or challenge his/her thinking in order to reach better results.
- Highly organized Project Management capabilities are a plus.
- Familiar with Good Warehousing Practice for WHs and Good Documentation Practice.
- Knowledge and skills in Documentation and Filing Management.
- Ability to communicate well with internal and external customers. He/she is sensitive to whats being said and not said in all circumstances and is able to position him/herself in counterparts shoes. He/she is expected to uphold Maersk and quality standards while building strong relationships with his/her counterparts. Being able to navigate conflict constructively and achieve win-win outcomes is crucial.
