Job Description

Job Purpose and Impact

The Mechanical & Technical Buyer will be responsible for sourcing negotiating and managing contracts for mechanical technical equipment and plant services. This role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality compliance and timely availability of goods and services to support smooth manufacturing operations.

Key Accountabilities

Procurement & Sourcing

    • Identify evaluate and onboard suppliers for mechanical technical and engineering services.
    • Manage procurement of spare parts plant maintenance services utilities and technical equipment etc.
    • Ensure compliance with company standards safety legal and sustainability requirements.

Vendor Management

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with service providers and OEMs.
    • Monitor vendor performance quality and delivery timelines.
    • Resolve vendor-related issues disputes or escalations.

Cost & Contract Management

    • Negotiate contracts service agreements and pricing terms to achieve cost savings.
    • Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements.
    • Ensure contracts meet legal commercial and technical requirements.

Plant Support

    • Partner with engineering maintenance and operations teams to understand technical requirements.
    • Support CAPEX and OPEX procurement for plant upgrades shutdowns and preventive maintenance.
    • Provide timely supply of critical spares and services to minimize downtime.

Process & Compliance

    • Ensure procurement activities align with company policies and audit requirements.
    • Maintain accurate procurement records vendor contracts and purchase orders.
    • Support digital procurement tools e-sourcing and continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering Supply Chain or related field.
  • 8-10 years of procurement experience in mechanical engineering or technical services (manufacturing industry preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of plant maintenance services spare parts and equipment categories.
  • Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and e-sourcing platforms spend analysis.
