Job Description
Job Purpose and Impact
The Mechanical & Technical Buyer will be responsible for sourcing negotiating and managing contracts for mechanical technical equipment and plant services. This role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality compliance and timely availability of goods and services to support smooth manufacturing operations.
Key Accountabilities
Procurement & Sourcing
- Identify evaluate and onboard suppliers for mechanical technical and engineering services.
- Manage procurement of spare parts plant maintenance services utilities and technical equipment etc.
- Ensure compliance with company standards safety legal and sustainability requirements.
Vendor Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with service providers and OEMs.
- Monitor vendor performance quality and delivery timelines.
- Resolve vendor-related issues disputes or escalations.
Cost & Contract Management
- Negotiate contracts service agreements and pricing terms to achieve cost savings.
- Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements.
- Ensure contracts meet legal commercial and technical requirements.
Plant Support
- Partner with engineering maintenance and operations teams to understand technical requirements.
- Support CAPEX and OPEX procurement for plant upgrades shutdowns and preventive maintenance.
- Provide timely supply of critical spares and services to minimize downtime.
Process & Compliance
- Ensure procurement activities align with company policies and audit requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement records vendor contracts and purchase orders.
- Support digital procurement tools e-sourcing and continuous process improvements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering Supply Chain or related field.
- 8-10 years of procurement experience in mechanical engineering or technical services (manufacturing industry preferred).
- Strong knowledge of plant maintenance services spare parts and equipment categories.
- Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and e-sourcing platforms spend analysis.
