Summary
The Nurse Practitioner will play a lead role supporting Primary Care Planning for the Esdilagh First Nation with a natural approach. The Nurse Practitioner will play a key role in planning organizing implementing and evaluate professional nursing care for clients varying needs of care and treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform primary and secondary nursing assessment nursing diagnosis planning implementation and evaluation or real and potential health problems in patients
- Maintain accurate thorough and timely documentation in patient record of pertinent health information nursing assessments interventions evaluations and communication
- Provide patient and family education discharge teaching and health promotion activities
- Communicating with Elders Traditional Knowledge Holders on and off reserve members and TNG Health Directors
- Interacting regularly with staff at Interior Health Authority Northern Health and First Nations Health Authority to provide information on Esdilaghs specific health care programming and policy gaps
- Ensuring that all reporting requirements are met for external funders
- Providing oversight and direction to the employees in the Stewardship department in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures

- Maintain appropriate client records ensures confidentiality of all information relating to the client and submits statistics and reports as required on a timely basis
- Maintaining employee work schedules including assignments job rotation training vacations and paid time off telecommuting cover for absenteeism and overtime scheduling

Requirements
- Master of NursingNurse Practitioner (MNNP)
- Minimum of 2 years health care management experience
- Minimum of 2 years managing staff and budgets
- Completion of an approved Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program or equivalent
- Experience Working with First Nation Clients and knowledge of First Nations Culture and Values
- Experience working in Primary Care or Elders Care
- Experience working with Committees and developing and writing health plans
- Excellent Communication Skills and ability to undertake Presentations
- Solid organizational skills and able to meet tight deadlines with limited supervision
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Experience working with First Nations people and communities and an understanding of historical impact issues and long-term trauma effects on First Nations people specifically with residential school impacts (Intergenerational trauma)
Working Conditions

- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware
- Overtime as required
- Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required
