Job Summary

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the school.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform all instructional tasks necessary to facilitate student learning in assigned courses in accordance with course curriculum and Ivy Tech Community College policies and procedures.
  • Utilize available technology to enhance student learning.
  • Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
  • Use available tools such as Canvas to create and maintain course content to assure that lessons assignments and labs are accessible to students.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to college policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Timely compliance with required materials and information submittal

STUDENTS:

  • Instructor must be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions and provide assistance.
  • Timely address student concerns and if necessary consult with program chair/department chair to resolve any issues.

INSTRUCTION:

  • Maintain consistent classroom presence for all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).
  • Establish an in-class atmosphere that emphasizes the significance of students consistent attendance throughout the term.
  • Use available technology and tools such as canvas commons Ivy Learn and windows computer programs to facilitate teaching and to enhance student learning.
  • If unavoidable emergency absence occurs notify program chair/department chair.
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with Ivy Tech Community College diversity equity and belonging policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 as applicable to the specific area of instruction.
  • A qualified faculty member meets the discipline standard through one or more of the following criteria:
    • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Technology Engineering Technology.
    • Possesses an earned masters or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with eighteen graduate semester hours in related courses.
