Job Summary:
This Histology Technician position requires a minimum of two years of experience in hospital and grossing procedures. The role involves performing tasks related to tissue processing and preparation for pathological examination in an acute care hospital setting. First-time applicants are considered with at least ten years of relevant experience. The schedule may include weekend shifts depending on the chosen shift (night or PM shift Sunday-Thursday). A return-to-office (RTO) policy is in effect.

Responsibilities:
- Processing and preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination.
- Performing grossing procedures.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Adhering to safety protocols and quality control measures.
- Collaborating with pathologists and other laboratory personnel.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience in hospital and grossing procedures.
- Active Histology Technician license (or equivalent).
- Proficiency in grossing techniques.
- Knowledge of tissue processing methods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Ten or more years of experience (for first-time applicants).
- Experience with specific types of tissue processing or staining techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of laboratory safety protocols.
- Experience with specific laboratory information systems (LIS).
Special Considerations:
- Weekend work may be required (Sunday-Thursday) for night or PM shifts.
- Return-to-office (RTO) is required.
- The facility is an acute care hospital with 277 beds.
- Specific uniform color requirements exist for RNs Peds RNs RRTs Phlebs and Imaging Techs.
Scheduling:
- Shift type and schedule will be determined based on the selected shift (night or PM shift Sunday-Thursday).
- Block scheduling may be accommodated at the managers discretion.
