Job Description
Job Title: Data Modeler Automotive Domain
Term : C2C/W2
Location: Plano TX
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeler to join our team supporting a leading US automotive client. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data modeling for Lakehouse architectures particularly using AWS and Databricks and a strong understanding of automotive data domains such as vehicle telemetry manufacturing supply chain and customer analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement conceptual logical and physical data models for Lakehouse environments.
- Collaborate with data engineers architects and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable models.
- Optimize data structures for performance scalability and cost-efficiency in AWS and Databricks.
- Ensure data integrity consistency and governance across the Lakehouse platform.
- Work closely with domain experts to model data for automotive-specific use cases (e.g. vehicle lifecycle warranty service history IoT telemetry).
- Support data lineage metadata management and documentation efforts.
- Participate in code reviews model validation and continuous improvement of data architecture.
Required Skills & Experience:
Technical Skills:
- Strong experience in data modeling (star/snowflake schemas normalized/denormalized models).
- Hands-on experience with Databricks Lakehouse Platform (Delta Lake Unity Catalog notebooks).
- Proficiency in AWS data services: S3 Glue Redshift Athena Lake Formation.
- Solid understanding of SQL for data manipulation and validation.
- Familiarity with data governance tools and practices (e.g. Collibra Alation Purview).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).
Domain Expertise:
- Automotive industry experience is highly preferred.
- Understanding of vehicle data manufacturing processes dealer networks and customer analytics.
- Experience working with IoT data sensor telemetry or connected vehicle platforms is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Agile/Scrum experience is a plus.
