  • Unique interdisciplinary environment: a rare opportunity to lead as Director of Nursing within a specialised Day Hospital primarily hosting podiatric surgery while collaborating closely with the School and Podiatry team. Diverse roles and responsibilities: This role combines clinical and administrative leadership with academic accreditation research and teaching responsibilities.
  • Full-time appointment on a tenurable basis.
  • Base salary range: Level C $144143 $165809p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

The Department of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery is located in the School and offers a three year postgraduate Doctor of Podiatric Medicine and a five year Doctor of Podiatric Surgery degree along with Higher Degree by Research and coursework programs.

About the opportunity

  • Lead the successful operation and maintain accreditation of the UWA Day Surgery as the Director of Nursing ensuring compliance with Department of Health requirements and maintaining high standards of patient care.
  • Provide operational and academic support at the Universitys Day Hospital a clinical training site for postgraduate students facilitating real-time clinical learning in a day surgery environment.
  • Foster an innovative safe and supportive setting where students gain hands-on experience in perioperative recovery and ambulatory care aligning clinical activities with the Universitys teaching and research goals.

About you

  • AQF7 Bachelor of Nursing with post-graduate equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership role in a Peri-operative Suite.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Extensive experience in senior clinical nursing and healthcare management roles.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage multidisciplinary teams.

Note: The provision of clinical activity is essential for this role. The post holder will be required to hold or be in the process of developing a speciality area of practice to be agreed with by the Head of Department.
